She did what she had to for everyone else and herself to survive. But it shouldn't have to be this ; these lands brought out the worst in everyone. If he never was here, maybe he'd never hurt a fly. But he is here and he was out to HURT everyone. So she had to do what she needed to.

Ann lifts her head from checking the pulse (there is none after a few seconds) to see Pat - and it's HARD to decipher the Executive's expression. Ann's killed on accident here before ; but intentionally like this had been NEW. It doesn't sit well with her despite knowing it's what had to be done. Ann stands up, switching the safety on as she puts the gun in her back pocket. "...We can all clear this game now. " Ann remarks after a moment of silence. This time she doesn't look to the body when she stands up to head towards the room entrance where Pat is. " It won't be hard now that everyone will cooperate. We've got five minutes. Let's go. Y’know when you’re tired and come across the wrong post at the wrong time and just. Pure rage. For no reason whatsoever.

I’m feeling rather bitter at Elwing rn (it was a very well written ficlet and I admire the writer, I’m just tired and unwell 😂) so you get a little fic of me getting that out. Content warning done.

Because Elwing wasn’t soft and innocent. Elwing wasn’t like that at all.

Sharp, angular features. Grey slivers for eyes more often clouded than not. White? Yes she wore white. But it was the white of a desert sun, the white of cold starlight, merciless and unfeeling as elves were dragged to the darkness.

And she’d loved her sons, yes, but it was the love of an ideal. Elwing was young and far from ready for the burdens of motherhood alongside ruling a city in her husband’s ever growing absences. And the gem-

It wasn’t holy light but white hot fire that clashed with the silmaril to send her screaming as the stone rejected her grasp, burning brighter than ever as she flew to her husband.

Elrond’s arrival to Valinor and the white scars radiating from Elwing’s hand to her chest confirm what he knew all along.

It wasn’t innocence that crowned her the day Sirion fell.

Because years before Maedhros and Maglor had fallen victim to the Silmaril’s hallowing, Elwing the White had paid the price for her false claim. And no matter how they tried to hide it, the consequences of that pride marked her to this day.

Im not one to think too deeply about what Kodaka says on bluesky/twitter about the danganronpa cast but he just posted this and my mind is Reeling a little

This is not that. This is nearly the opposite. This is someone who had and still very arrogantly wanted more. Someone who could have been fine as he was, but it wasn’t enough. Someone never satisfied with the good that he had because there was more to be had, more he could have that he never got. Someone who was maybe quite good at some things, or at least decent, and his brain went “this must mean I’m something special. I must be destined for greatness.” This compiled with another question he answered that implied Hinata’s parents were actually kind of well off too (cant remember but something like they were the type to buy him things to make up for mistakes), like…This is not the downtrodden underdog of society I’d always read Hinata as being.

To me this stinks of envy. An arrogant, narcissistic, prideful envy. And oh my god. Isn’t that just so much more relatable?

To be someone who had every opportunity succeed without talent…And to accept the Kamukura project anyway… Not out of necessity or a pressure from society, but simply his own prideful, envious need to have more.

He’s not a nothing that finally got something. He was already something. He’s not an underdog, he’s an Icarus.

In its own way, I think that embodies a very contorted, “black mirror” idea of Hope way more than my previous reading of his character, which I think also makes the outcome of the Kamukura project just so much more deliciously ironic.
